Behind The Scenes
of AvianTracker

The creator of AvianTracker and all of the content under this name is me, Kasper R. Berg.
I am a passionated naturephotografer and videographer that has been fascinated with nature for my entire life. Especially experienced in fieldwork related to rare birds, in particular Columbiforms, and is an active commission member of the IUCN SCC Pigeon & Dove Specialis Group since 2024.

I grew up in Denmark, where I spent many hours of my childhood exploring the nearby forest and coastline, in search of wildlife of all sizes. Later I began to find birds especially interesting, which definitely had something to do with the fact that I was educated about their dinosaurian origins. Like most kids, I was greatly fascinated by non-avian dinosaurs (which I indeed still are), so realising that the birds flying around today is actually the extant relatives of these prehistoric animals understandably elevated my interrest in them.

Later, as I grew older my interest brought me beyond the borders of my home country, where I have been fortunate to experience some of the world’s many wonderfull avian species. My focus especially lie on insular environments, like island nations, since these typically harbour many unique and endemic species, which sadly also is very vulnerable to extinction given their limited geographical distribution.
Naturally they therefore deserve great attention from the conservational community - and I try to contribute by acquiring photos and videos of these birds, along with information on their distribution and behaviour, which is crucial to determined what actions must be taken to secure the continued existence of these species.

The goal of securing a species which face many threats can be a difficult one indeed - however it is my belief that if everyone, who find such a goal important, take some actions which can improve the likelihood of a better future for a given species, the chances of reaching that goal is obviously more likely.
